This elegant cool climate shiraz displays delicate flavours of dark berries and black cherries with a hint of white pepper.
Vineyard Notes
Our Oakwood Shiraz spans over 4.2 hectares and was established in 2017. Comprising of three clones 1654, 470 and cool climate cutting of 130-year-old vines from the Eden Valley running on a northerly aspect 380-425 metre altitude, running 200 metre rows from Oakwood Road to Cock Creek.
Winemaker Notes
The 2021 growing season with its high temperatures through February and a cooler March month allowed this Shiraz to develop quickly and end ripening slowly producing great depth of flavour and colour.
The grapes were picked in the cool of the morning, pressed and spent 9 days on skins during the early stages of fermentation. The juice was then fermented dry and stores in new French oak (15%) for 9 months adding complexity and depth to the final product.
